About me
Susan completed her 21st year in education. She holds two bachelor's degrees and teaching certifications in elementary education and Spanish education. She also holds a master's in bilingual-multicultural special education, with an emphasis in learning disabilities from the University of Arizona. Susan is a certified Wilson dyslexia practitioner, and she has worked as a classroom teacher and Learning Services administrator in a variety of public, international, and independent schools in St. Louis, Arizona, Switzerland, Washington DC, and Hawaii. Susan's professional interests lie at the nexus of neuroscience, multilingualism, psychology, and pedagogical practice. Currently, she serves as the Middle School Learning Specialist and is working toward completing a doctorate in education specializing in mind, brain, and teaching at Johns Hopkins University. The focus of her dissertation study is related to twice-exceptional (2e) learners and facilitating educational environments that promote feelings of belonging among students who are simultaneously gifted and have learning differences.
